The Mathematics curriculum incorporates the standards of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Curriculum. It embodies conceptual areas of mathematics that enable one to compute, problem-solve, analyze, use logic, perform graphic functions, and read and interpret charts, as well as measure geometric concepts. Emphasizing technology, higher level courses in trigonometry, pre-calculus and calculus are also offered.
Objectives
Mathematics faculty work with the arts and other academic faculties as inter-disciplinary teams to engage the students in their art forms and ensure that the students maximize their potential. Students will develop their reasoning skills, which will enable them to make real world connections. We will support students as they strive for excellence.
Goals For Students
Students will have the opportunity to integrate their mathematics skills in their art form.
Departmental Goals
- Teach students the logical processes of mathematics and science and how these are evident in everyday life.
- Provide positive mathematics and science experiences using technology.
- Equip students with skills that enable them to be functionally literate citizens.
- Engage students in learning experiences to stimulate and encourage curiosity and a quest for knowledge.
