You’re someone special. Spend your summer doing something special! This summer…Sing! Act! Dance! Paint!
Sign up now for JOURNEYS!, a summer arts camp for creative kids age 10-14 at Washington, DC’s acclaimed Duke Ellington School of the Arts.
July 2-July 30, 2010
You’ll spend four weeks designing costumes, creating sets, and developing scripts…and having a wonderful time! Show off all you’ve learned in an exciting final stage production!
As a camper, you’ll learn about the many cultures and artistic forms that shape America and make this country such a colorful, sense-tickling place!
Does your imagination run wild? Let it run through the magical realism often seen in Latino art. Into toe-tapping, finger-snapping jazz? Let’s journey together through the Harlem Renaissance. Do you love animals and nature? We’ll incorporate them into our days the way Native Americans entwined them in their folkloric art.
But it’s not just about ideas—learn to express your creativity through singing, dancing, acting, writing, and painting in daily workshops.
Guest artists and local field trips to places like the Smithsonian and the Kennedy Center will offer exciting new perspectives!

Every day of camp, you’ll be working together to create an exciting final production you can be proud of! You’ll build it from scratch—you’ll even build and paint the sets, design the costumes, and write the script! It’s a great chance to show off all you’ve learned to your family and friends.
